Head to the Knees

When I first asked doctors & physiotherapists if this kind of stretch could possibly help my lower back injuries (a few pressed vertebras gliding into each other) they told me this is the worst thing I can do for my back besides doing flips and lifting weights.

Considering my body structure ,best is, they told me, to follow chess classes. (which I also did, on my own grin emoticon )
If you do this stretch right when your lower back hurts there is indeed a possibility to destroy it even more. That is because you don't just start stretching all of a sudden. Unless you trained for at least 10 years or so. Otherwise, it usually takes around one hour of training until you can go into this stretch.
Stretching is one of the best things you can do, on your own, for your back.

Before I started Shaolin again - few years ago - my lower back was hurting even when I was bending over the sink, brushing my teeth. I destroyed it with incorrect posture due to forced schooling, incorrect training (no warming up), anti-inflammatory pills, incorrect landing from flips (or landing on my back, on concrete) and receiving some kicks and hits (going through some walls and windows also).

Today, my back feels greater than ever. That is thanks to acupuncture and cupping as well, massage, Shaolin training and meditation!

If you want to avoid getting more sick than you already are, then don't put your trust in your doctors, put it in yourself! Instead of investing money in doctors to help you fix you, invest some quality time in yourself, every single day, and you can become your own doctor!

Unfortunately, modern doctors haven't yet discovered the link between movement and health - each time you have an injury they will tell you to stop training and start taking some pills. You only stop training if you break something - and even then, only temporarily. But unless something is broken, the worst thing to do for yourself after you had an injury is to stop training! You can rest, but you have to keep moving!
